Juramento, Dorado and Del Valle Rivers, Salta

Juramento, Dorado and Del Valle Rivers, Salta

Dorado fly fishing in Salta has to be one of the most exciting expeditions ever, and is only for those fisherman who love the wilderness and are avid to seek new experiences. However, our chosen Lodge is sufficiently luxurious to an agreeable contrast in the evenings.

Toucans, thousands of butterflies of different sizes and exotic colours, tapir footprints and pumas, corzulas, mountain pigs, and even anteaters are all part of the environment of this destination.

The Fishing:

We have a choice of three rivers to fish on this programme – the Rio Juramento, and the Rio Dorado or the Rio Del Valle. There will be two days of float trips and one day wading in crystal clear waters.  These rivers flow through warm rain forests and form big pools and riffles, an ideal home for the hard-fighting, wild-jumping and multi-coloured Dorado.  The average size of Dorado on the Dorado and Del Valle Rivers is around 5lbs.  And on the Juramento River they will be from 10 to 12lbs.

The Programme:

The fishing may be reached by taking an early morning flight from Buenos Aires to Salta (not included).  On Day 1, you will be met at the airport on arrival around 8.40am and taken to the Juramento River.  After preparations, you will be ready to fish this river from midday until about 8pm, when you will be taken to the Lodge.

Day 2 commences with a 7.30am breakfast, and then a full day’s fishing from 8.30am until 7pm.  This will consist of a float trip on the Juramento River.

On Day 3 you will spend the whole day wading the crystal waters of the Dorado River or the Del Valle River (choice depending on weather conditions).

The return to Buenos Aires will follow a 9.30m breakfast on Day 4.
