The island of Andros has for long been recognised as the Bahamas’ foremost destination for Bonefishing. And since the early 1990’s Bair’s Lodge has become highly regarded as providing the best fishing that South Andros has to offer.
Ideally situated between the South Bight and Curly Cut Cays, Bair’s Lodge accesses some of the most remote flats, while also providing many sheltered locations to cater for different wind conditions. The Lodge is located in Little Creek, and access is via Congo Town airport – a 1 hour’s flight from Miami.
The Fishing:
Andros has become synonymous with ‘big’ bonefish. And flats such as Grassy Creek, Deep Creek, the Water Cays and Curly Cut Cays in South Andros are where the ‘giants’ are commonly found. Most flats are ideal for wading.
While Bair’s Creek is predominantly a bonefish destination, the occasional tarpon and permit may be found also. Other flats and reef species that are common are barracuda, jacks and various types of snapper. The Lodge enjoys some the most under-fished flats on Andros.
Offshore fishing for billfish species such as wahoo, tuna and Dorado can be arranged, subject to season.
The Accommodation:
In addition to the quality of its fishing, the Lodge itself has come to represent the benchmark in terms of quality guiding, superb food, comfortable accommodation and courteous hospitality.
The Lodge has capacity for 6 rods, with 3 double, en suite, air-conditioned rooms. Further facilities include a dining room, sitting room, fly-tying table, telephone and a fly shop fully equipped with flies, rods, lines, selected items of flats wear and local crafts.
Meals include beautifully prepared Bahamian specialities, consisting largely of deliciously fresh seafood. Maid and laundry service is provided.
